MANILA, Philippines — Showing no letup, Cagayan Valley completed a sweep of the elimination round following a 104-66 drubbing of Wangs Basketball in the 2015 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Monday at the Marikina Sports Complex.
The Rising Suns, coming off a statement win over erstwhile league-leader Hapee last Thursday, showed no mercy against the also-ran Couriers — outscoring them by 15, 31-16, in the fourth quarter despite heading into the final frame ahead, 73-49.
Jason Melano flirted with a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds while guard Abel Galiguez, who hit the last-second triple in an 80-77 win over the Fresh Fighters, added 12 points for Cagayan, which upped its record to 11-0.
The top-seeded Rising Suns led by as much as 43 points. Fil-Tongan big man Moala Tautuaa chipped in eight points, nine rebounds and five assists while coming off the bench.
The Couriers finished their campaign with a lowly 2-9 slate.
