Mac Tallo scorched from beyond the arc in his debut as Racal Motors zoomed past AMA Online Education, 118-100, Thursday in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Cebuano guard fired 15 of his 20 points in the first half and shot 4-of-9 from three to help the Alibaba cruise to their first win of the conference. He also had four assists and three rebounds in the victory.
“Mac is very impressive for his first game for us,” noted coach Jerry Codiñera. “I hope he continues to play the way he did.”
Tallo’s hot-shooting was the perfect encapsulation of Racal Motors’ blazing start, where it went on a 13-of-17 clip from the field in the first quarter to grab a 36-16 lead, which further extended to 31, 106-75, with 6:49 left in the fourth quarter.
“Of course, we’re happy because we got our first win, which is very crucial for a team that has went on an overhaul. We’ll just make our adjustments along the way,” said Codiñera.
Janus Lozada added 17 markers, while Jam Cortez chimed in 15 points and five boards for the Alibaba.
Mario Bonleon topscored for AMA Online Education with 31 points and 12 rebounds, but shot 8-of-20 from the field, including 0-of-8 from three.
Daniel Salonga also had 20 markers and four boards, while Renzo Subido got 11 in the loss.
